On This Day Last Year…
… there was actually snow.
Unlike this year….
Today it was raining at 7,100′ in Park City, which hurts, but given how weak and rotten the existing snowpack is, what little of it we have, it may be the best thing. It’s like calling for a Do Over on winter.

Do not worry in a few years there will be no winter at all.
I live in Europe and here is the same. Here is could but is the longest drought i’ ve seen. From october till now has snow just 1 day
Last winter wouldn’t end and this winter won’t start.
At least you don’t hear any helicopters in the backcountry. Just wait until it starts dumping, I’ll bet WPG’s “ready to go” client list is huge. The pack is so weak they will bomb the shit out of the place, it will look like the opening scene in Apocalypse Now. Stay tuned for “shock and awe.”
In 1986 or 1987 I hiked Mount Olympus on New Years Day. Small amount a snow on top, most of the trail was dry as a bone. What goes around comes around.
Wasatchcrawler – I was having the same thoughts – the silver lining on the no snow cloud is that WPG hasn’t been flying. Not only that, but when they do start, there will be such limited terrain that it is going to be a five star fluster cluck of bombs, WPiglets and touring parties all in the same place at the same time. It should be awesome. ;)
