Hack Job
Well that was fun. Straightchuter.com was somehow hacked yesterday, but thanks to the efforts of Valentin Secades M. from Costa Rica and his trusty associates, it is now back in action. For some reason it allowed people to register new websites under the straightchuter umbrella, so there are now staitchtters, straitshooters, str8tshtrs and many other variations out there! Don’t be fooled.
I guess some people are into ski mountaineering and some are into hacking computers. May the hackers suffer the equivalent of endless miles of breakable crust while wearing a frozen jock strap. I guess I’m going to have to come up with a different name than “admin” and a better password than “ski.” (not really)
It looks like about five days have been lost, which is not the end of the world, so thanks for your patience. I’ll be back.

Hey, aren’t he “Str8Shtrs” a gang based in San Francisco?
Goddamn people and their harmful hobbies! Maybe I’m slow, but hacking into someone’s site doesn’t sound like that much fun.
I don’t get it either, but I suppose that it has to be somewhat satisfying to unlock a puzzle, not that this one was all that hard.
They are likely just taking advatage of known WordPress vulnerabilities (or maybe known hosting vulnerability).
I imagine there are plug-ins for WP to help with security.
You may also want to look into using .htaccess to harden security.
Welcome to The Suck.
Thanks Web Dude. I’ll check into those.
I wonder if people hack websites for the same reason that others climb mountains – because its there. :)
Your “may the hackers suffer the equivalent of endless miles of breakable crust while wearing a frozen jock strap” reminds me of my favorite Egyptian curse which was found written above a burial chamber in a pyramid. The curse actually reads “he who enters here may a donkey violate him and may a donkey violate his wife”. Maybe you should put that on the page where you log in to update it. It could scare off some hackers.
I like! Although given the hackers mentality, they may enjoy the donkey violation.
Bummer Dood!
Just when I was about to chime in on your warm feet post.
O’la Steve – I’ll put it and the gouge repair post back up.
(ps – where’d you learn how to hack? :) )
