Four Year Ago Today…

| February 5, 2009

… we got married up at Alta by the Honorable Reverend Lou Dawson (First Church of WildSnow).

Lou, reading us our rites.

The dogs were invited and kept on short leashes.

We were honored and blown away by how many people showed up and how far they traveled to get there.

We consecrated the marriage with a run at Alta. We had arranged lift tickets beforehand, but ended up forgetting them. When we showed up at the lift, the liftie said "Don't worry about it - if you are dressed up like that, you're on the chair."

Security was lax and these guys/girls slipped in.

From what I remember, the party was smashing.

Now, four years later, we have a little 1.5 year-old red headed skier girl and another on the way.  It’s been a blast – thanks Polly!

    Lou Dawson married you??!

I guess that’s one way to ensure the mountain gods smile upon your union. I took a ring and my then-girlfriend on a hike up my home town peak in Flagstaff. Plan: no summit, no ring. Luckily, we all got to the top. :)

Congratulations on your Anniversary, Andrew & Polly!

  2. d3 says:

Happy Anniversary! It’s always great to see Polly in her yellow coat, especially on her wedding day!

Sharing the love with Aryana’s birthday today. She’s five.

  5. Andrew says:

Hi Andrew – yep, Lou picked up a Universal Church of Life accrediation and was the master of ceremonies. We were all wearing special Dynafit underwear for the occassion.

  7. Bob says:

    Wow…time flies. Congratulations.

Security wasn’t that loose – the people at the table I was sitting at realized that you had put all the telemarkers together at that same table…way in the back. Coincidence? I think not.

Any pictures of you two hoisted high in the chairs? Loved the look on your face when that happened.

The best 4 years of my life so far and we have years and years to look forward to together. Thank you Andrew for sharing so many good turns and happy times. And to think, it all just keeps getting better. love, p

Andrew and Polly, Congratulations to you both. I’ve got two beautiful red-headed girls of my own (and a son, but no red hair there). Nothing finer than watching the little ones make their first turns.

  10. Derek says:

Athey looks like a body guard in that photo. I’m intimidated;)

  11. Ralph S. says:

I love Athey’s Sunnto cuff link! Congrats on the great years spent together. My wife and I are celebrating our 12th on Saturday up at Soldier Mountain. It’s amazing how happy people can be when they have a common love.

  12. Lou Dawson says:

I guess I’m falling short as a reverend, as I’m supposed to have a tickle file that reminds me to send anniversary congratulations to all the people I’ve married (two so far, grin). Haven’t gotten that together yet, so hence the delay of MAJOR congrats to Andrew and Polly for their fourth! And yeah, they’ve got the cutest little red headed tot I think I’ve ever seen anywhere. Makes me want a few more myself! In fact, we’ve still got the 55 gallon drum of Legos, so we’re all set!
