Dynafit Rolling Start

WildSnow.com may be the center of the Dynafit world, but can they do this trick?

Don’t try it without getting a note from Lou first.  ;)

    How many takes?

  2. Wookie1974 says:

Is this supposed to be hard? As long as no snow has built up on your boots – this is standard.

    For a better trick:

throw both skis down – jump – and lock in with both feet as you land.

I’ve seen a guy do it on alpine bindings, but I can’t….and it would be pretty amazing with tech bindings.

    Good one!

  4. glew gun says:

wow….did u get that video from some Italian Rando racer?

  5. Andrew says:

First take on this one Ralph, but hundreds of unsuccessful attempts beforehand. I’m still at about 1 in 10 with the crux being to get your skis to both land right-side up and semi parallel to each other. Sliding a finger or two between the bases while they are still on your shoulder seems to help start them off in the right trajectory.

  6. ron says:

not that it’s a bad thing but someone has been spending too much time with his Dynafits…

  7. Jed says:

I’m not sure what the trick is other than the right side up landing. It doesn’t take me much more than that to get in and going. Except I use the handle of my pole to lock the toe in so I don’t have to bend down. But then again I can take my skins off with my skis on too.

  8. VagiPine Shredder says:

I’d try it, but I’m still waiting for the go-ahead from Lou.

  9. Andrew says:

Getting the skis to land forward and right side up is 90% of the trick. The rest is just practice with Dynafits.

  10. JimmyJames says:

Very Nice! Now use your pole to lock the toe.

  11. hristo says:

Almost as fast as Kilian (at 2:50):

  12. pecker says:

Cool!! The rarely seen “Reverse Didier Cuche”!!

  13. Plink says:

JimmyJames alluded to it, you can use your pole, (parallel to the ground, and perpendicular to your skis) to pull up on both toe levers at the same time. This increases your efficiency as it save one step in your routine. If you need to, try to rotate heel posts and rip skins all while you’re bent over rather than bending over multiple times (for each item).

I’d like to see a trick like that done with skins next.
