Featured K2 Ski Anti Piste (available at Backcountry.com – click photo below for details)
With a nod to the poster art that obscured telephone poles throughout Seattle during the city’s emerging “grunge” scene, the Anti Piste defies conventional ski design by introducing “rocker” to the telemark world. Rocker initiates on a dime and is so maneuverable it gives the sensation that you’re skiing on a shorter ski. But add our new, longer, less reactive tip and a wider waist, and you’ll also enjoy more stability and predictability than you’ve ever dreamed of in soft snow. Just like your grunge concert, the Anti Piste will blow your mind, and redefine what you expect in performance.
Conditions: 20% hard snow, 80% soft snow
Dimensions: 135-102-121
Sizes: 167, 174, 181, 188
Weight: 1875g (174cm)
Inserts: Mid-core and +2cm
Construction: Triaxial braided wood core
Mini Rocker, Mod Tech, progressive

I was going to pick out my new skis, but the K2 link seems to be broken. :-)

registering for this sick contest
Hi Eric – no problem. :)
registering…
Registering. I shall begin the overflights and GPS mapping tomorrow in hopes of finding a ski spot that is stashworthy. Much like candidates spend $300 million dollars to get a job that pays $200k a year, I shall spare no expense in winning these skis.
my entry for the comp – Aoraki/Mt Cook, Southern Alps in New Zealand. exact location – Caroline Face of Aoraki.
Hum… I could use a new pair of sticks!
It might be that particular mountain, but you’ll have to wait until next week for the clue that gives away the exact location. Mountains are pretty big and there are a lot of places to stash a pair of skis.
looks like more and more people want these skis…..
Well, don’t need clues 1-3 with clue 4 (just getting registered really)
I just realized this is like a super lazy version of geocaching. Awesome! Can’t wait for next tuesday
so exctly how does the comp work? Does the winner have to answer all 5 clues first to win? or is it the first answer over the 5 weeks that wins?
if my first guess is wrong but I put another answer down next clue does that over-ride my first answer?
so many questions…
Cool contest.
registering. cool site andrew, thanks for stoking the stoke!
Hi Jamesp – the entry format is;
Continent (your answer)
Country (your answer)
Mountain Range (your answer)
Peak (your answer)
Specific location (your answer)
The first four should be pretty easy as there has been plenty of time to research them and they weren’t that hard. This format is mainly in case of a tie or dispute. The final location is an identifiable location or structure, not behind some random rock in an open field. For instance, it might be something like the basement of the clock tower at the bottom of the Jackson Hole ski resort.
The winner is the first person to correctly identify the exact location of the skis via a “comment” on StraightChuter.com after the last clue has been given, which in this case will be Sept 23rd at 10:00am Mountain Standard Time. You can enter as many times as you want, although I might have to be The Decider and make some tough decisions if it appears that some automated computer hi-jinks were employed.
Happy turns,
Andrew
