Chute Me – Please
Despite my best efforts to keep StraightChuter.com as simple to update and maintain as possible, the evil computers have won again and I’m in the process of updating the format. This was prompted by all of my tabs/pages mysteriously vaporizing into the Ethernet. Like childhood memories, they were nothing really important and perhaps it is a mixed blessing to lose all of the trip reports, photos, Chuting Gallery, about and other pages. At least that’s what I’m telling myself. They may or may not be back, but until then, thanks for the patience.
Any suggestions for easy additions would be most welcome.
Happy turns,
Andrew

The Æthernet is a contemptuous bitch. best of luck
It’s a good thing I read most of your instructional articles last week. That was the best part of your site. Hope you can get them back. Your site looks a lot better with out all the clutter now at least.
How bout a daily does of Jim Harris photography?
Now that sucks! Sorry to hear it…
A daily does of Jim would be great, although I think http://www.perpetualweekend.com beat me to it.
WWLD=what would Lou do?

I don’t know if you lost all your content, but check out this link, it’s a webarchive site and has many captures of your site.

Last year my old Fritzrips site was hacked over and over again by spammers, and I couldn’t fix the problem. I just gave up. I found the webarchive site and used it to get back years of photos, etc. It’s helpful, but doesn’t work perfect.
I second getting the instructional posts back, if possible. And also agree that it’s a much more pleasant viewing experience now without all the clutter.
LOL @ HAEC.
Thank Derek. I haven’t fully given up on the lost content yet, but a site called “Wayback Machine” seems to have an older copy of it.
I’ve backed up most of the photos I care about now on Google Docs as little trip reports. Seems like that site is less likely to get hacked, and you can save them there for free, and also export them as PDF if your site goes down in the future. Google Docs also has a cool slideshow feature.
Wait…what? It’s all gone? Sucks, dude. Condolences.
That doesn’t sound quite right. I work as a WordPress theme/plugin developer and you should not have lost any content from what sounds an awful lot like a theme update — although hard to say for sure without knowing more.
