Antarctica 2013
At this time next year, you could be finishing up a great day of skiing, checking out the latest weather forecast and getting ready to cross the Drake Passage after a week of wild skiing in Antarctica. The now famous IceAxe Antarctica Ski Cruise only happens once every two years, and in 2013 it will be November 4-16.
I’m planning on going as a ski guide and this will be my fifth trip to the White Continent. It is one of those places and trips where you go for the skiing, but in the end the skiing is just the icing on the much bigger cake. It’s hard to put into words, but the old real estate adage seems relevant: location, location, location.
In years past I’ve had good luck mixing and matching with different groups, but for this upcoming trip I’d love to assemble a group of four people ahead of time. So far I have one confirmed and a few definite maybes. The price is the same, but with a predefined group (especially with skiers of a similar skill level), the logistics are simplified and you make better use of your skiing time. If you are interested, contact me or Karyn Stanley at IceAxe to work out the details. It’s a blast!

Darbs and I would be keen. We’re usually running out of snow by then… Mb we could leave from Tasmania and meet you there!
What could you do for, say, $3,427.00? Always start with a low ball offer…
They might give you a bunk in the Bilge for that price.
Andrew, been aspiring to do this trip for the last couple of years. Done a lot of cool things and this kind of seems like the next step. Just passed it by Cathy and didn’t get any strong blow back, so maybe this is the year? Not sure I can hang with the gang of 4, but it would be a fun trip!
Hi Smokey – the pricing is out of my hands. Sorry about that! I’m going as one of about 20 ski guides and we will all be working with/for Ice Axe Expeditions. They are the people to talk to about pricing.
Hi Chris – it’s pretty damn fun.. I think you’d like it.
Do you need a doctor on these remote ski trips?
