Hey Greg, good to see you responding.

I posted an article about the contest on SkinTrack.com when I learned about it here. I was so amused by the paradox :) that I wanted to know what other people think.

Maybe you can comment on it why did you guys decided to do it. What inspired you to do it?

Mark from CMH already chipped in his share of thoughts and educated some of us what CMH is planning in the future.

The article is here:

it looks like Stan figured it out but this is not a heli-skiing prize. It is a heli assisted ski touring dream. and dream it is. Take out the hours of approach and enjoy the alpine environment. What tires out most people is the 3-4000 foot approach and then they are tired out by the time they get to the alpine.

This prize is about all the good things. Supreme comfort, great food, heli dropped every day in a new and amazing spot. Left alone all day to enjoy the serenity of the mountains and then picked up at the end of the day and dropped off in a hot tub, followed by luxury and a great sleep, and then repeat.

its worth about 12000 dollars and will be awesome. I looked into bringing my wife and it is 3700$ for the week, for one. So needless to say she probable will not be coming...

I look forward to your video Stan.

Following Greg's projects and development for the past couple of years, this contest is a bit strange. And there are 2 things that are quite strange about it:

1. Why the hell would you write an essay about why you love backcountry skiing and touring so much if the prize is something on the opposite end of your spectrum (and maybe values). GMC my as well announce a contest why you love to drive a Toyota Prius and the top prize will be Cadillac Escalade.

2. And strangely enough the contest is presented by Greg Hill, the man that build his reputation and name on hard work in the mountains, by touring NOT flying, way more than almost anyone.

I guess, it is obvious I am not writing any essays this time :)
